I received Mr. Distiller a week ago, and due to time constraints decided to try a simple brandy using the cheapest Merlot wine I could find to see if it could make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, and it did.
The smell left a lot to be desired (but that is due to the choice of wine~imho), but was very surprised about the taste. The process went like clock work with the other reviews.
The results: Nice taste, 1.2L at 70 Proof.
Buy it, you will enjoy the outcome!

I purchased this item to convert bad beer into something I could use. It is so easy to use and makes some great product. I would recommend it to anyone even my mom!

After only a few weeks of practice, I'm now turning out decent rums and vodkas my friends are enjoying. The batches are just the right size. Starting with a 4L wash of 18% I'm getting ~ 1L @ 55% ABV. collect 3L of this and then run through again, I'm getting ~ 1.3L @ 80% ABV. Ive found the heating element to be a bit too robust especially running a batch of 55% through it. I've put a rotary dimmer switch in line with the power to the heater and by turning it down to around 85VAC/155 watts after the 'heads', no more over pressure! Excellent still for the money and size.

It is a pot still and I think you need to pay attention to your wash. I run it through first as clear vodka. You run the Distiller for one hour before it starts, collect the first shot and put back in the next run. You will collect most of what you want in the next hour. Then collect the tails to add back to the next run. Taste it. ;). 120 to 140 proof. Now to make gin, add back what you have collected to distill it again. This time you will add your Juniper Berries and other spices to your taste and run again. Add water to 80%. Google it, for more information. It is easy to use. I have modified mine so that I connect my reflux still to its cooling fan, so that I do not have to use any water for cooling to distill, like a doubler. 2 distills in one run...sunshine also makes me happy:)

I just got mine in and I used it to distill some nasty home made beer as an experiment and I am amazed. The alcohol tastes terrific. I can't wait to make my first batch of "methanol" wink wink
